Our body is an instrument.

Our attention, breath, and touch are the most accessible and potent tools we have to be present with our body and our inner experience, anchor our nervous system, and tap into the wealth of our inner resources and the wisdom of the Earth itself.

Let’s practice together!

The PRACTICE BANK is a library of somatic practices where we explore revolutionary ways of being with our bodies.

What I share here has evolved primarily from my hands-on work with the nervous system and the root of the body over the last 20+ years, and also draws upon traditions of Qi gong, Chinese medicine, Pilates, and ritual ceremony.

Hi my dear, I’m Muse. I’m a wanderer of the wilds, creatrix, and medicine woman — a.k.a. — licensed acupuncturist, bodyworker + herbalist. I use she/her pronouns.

My hands-on work attending to pelvic health over the last two decades has taught me that everything in our life depends on how we feel in our nervous system and through the root of our body.

The PRACTICE BANK distills what I’ve learned through thousands of 1:1 hands-on sessions, weaving the wisdom of Chinese medicine into simple, accessible, and gentle ways we can connect with our body, connect to the wisdom and guidance of the Earth through our body,
and anchor our central axis of qi — the master key to our nervous system — into the unique medicine that asks to evolve through each of us.

SAQ’s

(should-be asked questions)

  • We all have it in some form, that’s for sure!

In these practice,s we attune to our body, notice our emotions and thoughts, and ask our breath to wash through all of it. Our bodies are very wise. When we practice letting our breath find its own way to move more freely through us, our nervous system naturally starts to unravel and release held emotional material little by little.

This work is very gentle and patient because we don’t try to directly access our trauma. We work to open a pathway for that material to be able to unwind at its own pace and in its own time.

That said, if you experience high levels of anxiety or panic attacks, I suggest you engage this work in conjunction with the support of a skilled therapist.

Also relevant to include here: sometimes I say that my whole job is helping people feel their feelings. All of my work as a practitioner involves accompanying emotional release, and I’ve supported many people who’ve experienced physical and sexual abuse.

  • Most practices can be done while sitting or laying down. Some videos incorporate standing practices, but you can engage most of the invitations while sitting as well.

In videos marked as ACTIVE, we engage more body positions and movement. I invite you to sit on the floor, reach towards your feet in a forward bend, and use full range of motion of our knees to crouch and stand up. Please listen to your body and modify anything that your body says NO to!

  • Resounding YES! All members of the alphabet gang are welcome here. All bodies are welcome here.

I use gender-neutral language across the board in all my courses.

This work IS anatomy-specific and oriented primarily for folks inhabiting vulvo-vaginal organ systems.

In this practice, we focus on BEING with ourselves exactly as we are in this moment, and turning our loving attention towards our body.

  • In a word, NO. (I’m allergic.)

These practices involves very simple — yet profound — ways of BEING with our body, our emotions, and our nervous system.

There are no guided meditations, no “manifestation”, no one-solution-cures-all dogma; there’s no spiritual bypassing, and there’s no gratitude practice (although that can be cool.)

And, we ARE exploring beyond the bounds of Western medicine here. We draw from central principles and insights from the rich tradition of Chinese medicine that are practical and also beautiful, poetic, and symbolic.

We lean strongly into our felt sense of our body, and talk about energetics - as in the overall tone of how we feel, sense into the forces of nature and the earth, and sense into imagination and possibility. We work to widen our access to our intuition and discernment, and this practice can also expand our connection with the unseen: the realms of spirit, soul, and ancestry.

  • Already experienced with somatic work? Great! It’s wonderful to have an abundance of support.

Never done anything like this? Great! It’s accessible for total newbies.

This work is quite unique — a world of its own — and can also beautifully complement other practices you already know and love, or learn later.

If you’re on the fence about checking out these new practices, I invite you to follow what you feel in your body about it. ❤︎
